Helen and Nelson Wimberly founded the company as a fastener and tooling solution service for customers such as Lockheed Martin, McDonnell Douglas, Northrop Grumman and various other aircraft OEMs. In the beginning, Nelson worked side by side with the aircraft mechanics to understand their unique problems. Mr. Wimberly turned problems into solutions, solving the various installation difficulties by crawling into the aircraft himself, advising fastener alternatives and designing the modified tooling necessary to perform the repairs and assemblies. This spirit continues today as APSE works hand in hand with our partners at the Boeing Aerospace Support Center (BASC) in San Antonio, Boeing Wichita Development and Modification Center (WDMC) and other large and small customers throughout the USA.
APSE's headquarters is located in Huntsville, Alabama, with site locations in San Antonio, Texas (Supporting BASC and other customers) and Wichita, Kansas (supporting Boeing IDS) and West Plains, Missouri (Supporting S.E.I and other customers).
In 1992 APSE added on site, inventory bin management and kitting services to our value added capabilities, entering into long-term agreements with numerous manufacturers and distributors. These relationships continue to prosper today. Contracts with SAIC, BASC and WIDS continue to expand APSE's scope of services. This includes warehousing, distribution and replenishment of Government Furnished Parts (GFP), configuration management, distribution, procurement consolidation, replenishment and manufacture of component and sub assembly kits.
